Raise your hand if you’re guilty of any of the following:

  • Spending an inordinate amount of time on Google trying to access an article hidden behind a paywall?
  • Signing up to receive daily alerts in exchange for information about a particular client?
  • “Listening” to a sales pitch for a week of free access to an otherwise expensive research tool?
  • Creating a spam or fake Yahoo! address so that you could re-access a website?

Regardless of your organization’s size, research tools or professional development budget,  cost-cutting measures and time constraints can hinder a legal marketer’s quest for information.  After banging your head against one too many paywalls, it’s sometimes easy to forget just how many free services and resources are available to us.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be blogging about “FreeSources,” free resources for professional development, research, access to legal news, and other useful information.   We look forward to sharing our ideas and tips with you, and hope to hear about your favorite FreeSources in the comments, via email (lma.thevirginias@gmail.com) or on Twitter (@LMA_Virginias).
